Fashion for skinny men
Fashion July 26th, 2008
I used to be a skinny dude before. I really don’t consider it a plus since I prefer to be bulky because I believe that would be proportionate to my height. Nevertheless, I was as thin as a stick and no matter how big my appetite was, that didn’t help improve my bony appearance. Well, I was fortunate I gained a considerable amount of weight at present and I am pretty much happy with the way I look.
The main problem for a thin guy when it comes to fashion is how to look muscular and bulky through the clothes that you wear. Yeah, it is a reality that you are bony and stuff, but you don’t really want to showcase your ribcage to the public. So here, are some helpful tips you could apply in order to add bulk to your thin frame.
1. Try Layers
To appear bulky, you have to add more clothes to the list. Why not try layers? This may be challenging for newbies especially on the area of mix n’ match but I think you can learn the craft as you get used to it. Just make sure the colors blend. For starters, avoid patterns. Yellow and white go well; as well as yellow and black. Just make sure you limit the colors to at most three. You surely don’t want to look like a rainbow by using like five colors, do you?
2. Avoid slim-fitting shirts
I think it is already obvious. A slim-fitting shirt will emphasize your thin frame, so it’s a no-no.
3. Go for crewnecks
For your own sake, please avoid V-necks or open-collared shirts. These tend to emphasize your neck and bony features, and you certainly do not like that.
4. Go horizontal
Vertical lines make you look taller. Horizontal lines make you look bigger. So go for horizontal stripes if you like to add width to your skinny frame.
5. Think thick
Okay, a thick leather jacket or a cottony sweatshirt might be helpful in creating the ‘thick look’ so you might try one of those. Just make sure it is appropriate for the occasion or time.
Well, there you go. Simple tips for a challenging problem. A little MORE self-confidence is all it takes to complete the makeover.
